Thanks to Nuffnang.sg and deal.com.sg that I was one of the privileged few to experience a magnificent spectacle and this being my first Chingay parade that I watched, I cannot wait for next year's parade! It was all because it was the deal of the day! As they said, a picture paints a thousand words, therefore I shall let the pictures do the talking!

The audience were asked to participate and create a pin wheel to cheer!

The cheer went like this: " Chingay,Chingay, we are one!"

Escape from Drugs Land

I attended the media preview of the Anti-Drug launch by Singapore Central Narcotics Bureau and it was announced that there will be 3 games that will be launched on 3 respective months (Dec 2011, Jan 2012 and Feb 2012).

In the month of February, there will be the launch of the game-"Escape From Drugs Land!"

The Anti-Drug Online Gaming Competition will be from December 2011 to February 2012. The target audience are youths from 13-25 years old and it is through these online games that The National Council Against Drug Abuse and Central Narcotics Bureau wish to highlight the harmful effects of drug abuse.

For those playing the games, there are prizes to be won! iPad 2 and Sentosa packages to be won!
I had the privilege of playing the game and I definitely feel enriched by all the knowledge about drugs and its harmful effects. I plan to recommend all my friends to play the game with the hope of winning some prizes and not forgetting educating them the harmful effects of drugs.

In the game, Escape from Drugs Land, the player begins his journey on a game board, where the dice determines the number of steps he can take each time. On every square is a quiz, drug information, refusal tip, word search puzzle, or mini game. The player has to complete the board in the shortest time possible and his timing will be converted into a score.

In line with the theme ‘Life Does Not Rewind’, all games do not have the ‘undo’ function such that the player cannot go back to the previous step and can only advance. In Escape from Drugs Land, the player cannot move backwards on the game board.

NANDO'S:Peri-Peri Flame Grilled Chicken

To say I am fortunate is truly an understatement to what I experienced one Saturday afternoon at Tampines Mall.

All along, I knew there was a black chicken and thought Nando's served Indian food as it always had spicy stuff. To my amazement and surprise, Nando's is actually Portuguese food.

The Peri-Peri chicken served was lip-smacking good. I ate piece after piece. Being a meat lover, I can tell when the meat is good. No doubt at times, the spices may be overpowering as there was mild hot, hot and extra hot(WARNING:Not for the faint-hearted) When I ate the extra hot Peri-Peri chicken, I could feel my tongue on fire literally and I had to reach for water several times.

However, if you are able to take spicy stuff and wish to challenge yourself, by all means, go ahead and try the extra spicy Peri-Peri chicken. My two personal favourites are the lemon and herb chicken and the chicken Espetada(which means skewered chicken).

CHICKEN ESPETADA

If you have a big group of 13 like we did, it's best to have the sharing platters. It is both affordable, value-for-money and huge in portions. There was definitely enough to go around plus much more left over for those who cannot get enough like me!! Their Peri-fect platters of flame-grilled Peri-Peri chicken are made for sharing. A platter shared is a cost divided. It comes with a little flag that indicates the spiciness level on the “peri-o-meter”

The service at the Tampines Mall branch is superb. When I ordered my drinks, not 1, not 2 but 3 drinks. They patiently took my order and served it promptly. When I requested for more serviettes, they gave me more than enough. I had enough to go round the whole entire table of 13 bloggers.

You want to know what I like about Nando's? Not only their chickens are:

I have been to The Eastern Restaurant not once but thrice! The fourth time, I am going to bring my family. They are fans of xiaolongbaos like me. The molten lava buns are my all-time favourite. And I have grown to love their La Mian, especially their Pu Tong La Mian.

One dish I highly recommend is their Spicy Dumplings!

My friends and I went 4 rounds manoeuvring round the practice circuit. There were sharp turns and I had fun going through the twists and turns on the obstacle course.

It was so dark that the photographs I took turned out blurry. However, it creates a good effect as to what everyone was going to experience. Although along the way, some scratches were sustained. Everyone on the tour round Sentosa Island enjoyed themselves thoroughly. There was even food and drinks waiting for us after the tour.

Imagine my joy and delight upon seeing all the wonderful food spread and drinks waiting for me when I ended my tour! Despite my aching feet, I was happy to be in the company of friends and the tour was simply awesome. I would strongly recommend it to tourists and locals. It is a comprehensive tour that highlights certain areas of Sentosa that is only accessible by the Segway.

HARAJUKU STREET STYLE LAUNCH AT TANGS

It was my first time attending a fashion event showcasing Japanese fashion and I learnt alot.

The event was open to the public but there were many Japanese fashion designers, shop owners and 77th Street owner, Elim Chew were present. The effervescent Utt was the host of the event.

The Harajuku brands featured were BEAM, RAY BEAMS, CIAOPANIC, COEN, CRYSTAL BALL, DIP DROPS, KBF, MYSTIC, RAY CASSIN, ROSEBULLET, OSEWAYA, URBAN RESEARCH, WEGO AND BEAUTY AND YOUTH UNITED ARROWS.

Everyone began queuing up early for the event and my friends, HongPeng and William, were a few of the first 10 to get a $200 voucher to spend (try spotting them in the picture:William in his trademark striped shirt and HP in blue with specs)

Many people attended the event and lots of pretty people were spotted at the event such as this!

There was a big crowd and I had to squeeze my way through...however, it was worth it as I ogled at drool-some male models! I was able to buy myself some accessories with the $20 voucher I got.

I truly enjoyed myself for the event, there was drinks, snacks and lots of beautiful Harajuku clothes. I will definitely be back for more shopping. I was too engrossed looking at the models to concentrate on shopping.

What would make me wake up on a Saturday morning? I would wake up early for things that matter to me!

So on 24th September 2011, I made my way down to Shenton House to attend a workshop on Forex Trading as I was interested to find out how it works and of course,how to make $$$$$.

The educational workshop was conducted by Ms Binni Ong, who is the Chief Trainer for TerraSeeds. She adopted a structured approach and presented the Forex basics in a clear and understandable way. I found it beneficial especially for laymen like me.

So what exactly on earth is TerraSeeds? Is it a place where you plant seeds to grow plants? Well, it can be likened to a place whereby you plant seeds...to grow money trees.

Their lessons include Technical Analysis, Sophisticated Trading Systems and different methodologies for different instruments. The day I got my unique user ID and password, I quickly downloaded the demo trading system and started trading. Each participant was given $20,000 to begin with. I was so eager that I lost $5,000 on the 1st attempt. I quickly decided to stop and resume the next day. I was thinking "Phew,it was not real money because that was sure painful."

The second time I decided to trade and watch the chart, I fell asleep in front of the computer, trying to monitor and see what was the best time to sell the stocks that I bought. The next morning, I woke up to find that my stocks were making money so I immediately did not hesitate to sell it. I make a pile but shh! I am not telling how much I made but it was a substantial amount.

The next time I tried to log in to the system, the stock market was closed so no trading was done for the day.

However, this time, I was cautious and traded in smaller accounts. I was able to uncover Charlie Kenton's past, was knocked out in WRB(World Robots Boxing- out of 5 questions, I only got 3 right.I tried in vain to train Atom(he's one stubborn robot) and finally gave up on finding Atom to train.

I was part of a privileged group of bloggers called Nuffnang Glitterati. 10 of us were invited to do a Chill Test.

Although I was not the first to go, I was a bit apprehensive because I fear for my teeth. I always get slight pain whenever I take something cold.

Finally, it came to my turn for the test. We were given a cup of hot tea and a cup of ice-cream.

I nonchalantly picked up the cup of tea and drank it. No effect. However, when I ate the cup of ice-cream, I felt a sharp pain in my teeth. I could not finish the whole cup of ice-cream.

My Spy name would be Fast and Furious!! Why? I simply love the movie,Cars!! I aim to be fast and furious in my work like an F1 car and I cannot wait to watch Cars 2!

I found the movie absolutely hilarious and too good to be true! But nevertheless,it sure entertained me with eye candy like Keanu Reeves.The movie teaches one certain values, like for instance, we may be drifting along life aimlessly without any purpose. We often need the wake up call to jolt us back to reality.

As a toll collector, Henry (Keanu Reeves) is a man seemingly without ambition, dreams or purpose. One day,he gets his wakeup call when all of a sudden, he becomes an unwitting participant in an ill-conceived bank heist. Rather than give up the names of the real culprits, Henry takes the fall and goes to jail. In jail, he befriends Max

(James Caan), a con artist who is so used to life in jail that he wants to just stay there.However, he helps Henry find his purpose and dream. Upon his release from jail. Henry finally finds his purpose. Having done the time, he decides he may as well do the crime. While chancing upon a tunnel passage through the theatre, he would be able to get to the vault.He finally manages to convince Max to file for his long overdue parole -- and then recruits his former cellmate to help stage a robbery. I wanna be an Earthkeeper.

It's a bold statement and carries with a responsibility of caring for Mother Earth. Not everyone can be one and the search is on for the One.

Timberland created the term "Earthkeeper" As they put it, “Earth” means the place we live in and “keeper” means guardian. Some call it the environmentalist, a person who cares deeply about environmental issues concerning the Earth and wil do within their capability to protect the place they live in.

It is of vital importance that the action begins NOW...as I am typing away,do you know how many forests are being depleted?

Timberland is on the lookout for like-minded people which is why they are rounding up a team of Earthkeepers to be ambassadors and as they are an outdoor company that produces boots, shoes and accessories.

And I applaud them for being a company that cares for the Earth and want to do something about it.Besides carrying out regional measures and eco-friendly activities worldwide, they bear in mind to increase the usage of renewable energy as well as organic and recyclable materials in the production and transportation of our products.

London Boulevard is about an ex-convict in London who by a twist of fate becomes the bodyguard of a reclusive actress.
A man of few words but handy with guns, Colin Farrell is perfectly cast as Mitchell.
He seems to want out of his old life but the past seems to be creeping up on him. Eventually he falls in love with the one he was supposed to protect.
If you are a fan of crime movie, you might enjoy it,however you might find 104 minutes is too draggy.
I would give the film 3 out of 5 popcorns. The only saving grace is Keira Knightley and Colin Farell. Enough said.

I was invited by Mr Ang Tian Teck to a Sticky Presentations workshop held at Chris' Tea House at Upper Paya Lebar Road on 10 May 2011.

I went there with little expectations, thinking it would be just another workshop but no, I was totally blown away.

The workshop offers some useful tips from the layman to the professional on presentation, I am very sure every participant on that day benefitted greatly because I did.

I learned that stats presentation can be interesting and animated and you can make a presentation come alive using less words but more pictures because as the saying goes "A picture paints a thousand words."

I was very tempted to sign up on the spot for the upcoming iPad workshop but I did not have an iPad...

The Sticky Presentations workshop is highly recommended to people from all professions who need a boost to their dreary and usual presentation.

My mother's name is Shirley and I come across this blog that's written by Shirley. A little background about her.

Shirley realized her dream of being a flight attendant in 1987. Through various training, she has become a people person and through travelling, it brought her to various places that opened her eyes to diversity. Thus,she has developed a knack in sniffing out the best buys and bargains for shopping. . She had also been nominated for the IAPA Outstanding Service Award, intended for those special individuals who go above & beyond the “call of duty” in giving extra-special service, & who recognize the importance of the busy frequent flyer. Movie Review-Hall Pass

Hall Pass is a 2011 comedy film produced and directed by the Farrelly brothers and co-written by them along with with Pete Jones. It features Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis, Stephen Merchant, Jenna Fischer and Christina Applegate. Brief Synopsis:Rick (Owen Wilson) and Fred (Jason Sudeikis) are best buddies as well as their wives, Maggie (Jenna Fischer) and Grace (Christina Applegate). They are both unhappy with their dull,predictable and bland love life and missing the old days when they were single and had the freedom literally to do anything they wanted instead of being tied down with a family. When their wives each decided to give them a "Hall Pass"(A week off from marriage whereby they can do anything. They called along their friends Gary (Stephen Merchant), Flats (J.B. Smoove) and Hog Head (Larry Joe Campbell) to paint the town red while their wives, Maggie and Grace spend the week at Maggie's parents' house in Cape Cod, where Grace flirts with athlete Gerry (Tyler Hoechlin). My review: What do you do when your man checks out other women whenever you’re out with him? Or disinterested in you?Brush it all off and move on with life? No – you give him a hall pass. This is what happens in the movie and if you do not know what a hall pass is, it’s kind of like a “get out of jail free” card – only in this case it’s marriage. The recipient is granted one week off from marriage and is free to make his own decisions. When disheartened Maggie gives easily distracted husband Rick a hall pass, she thinks it’s a chance to save their marriage – once he gets it all out of his system he will finally come to his senses and realizes his folly of ways. His best friend Fred, who practically has a hall pass thrown at him by his wife,Grace. Instead of using the hall pass to its fullest,the first couple of nights is not spent trying to pick up women but hanging out with their three friends – a nerdy Brit, the token black guy, and a dim-witted slob. But their quest escalates when they hook up with Coakley. However, the problem with the movie,Hall Pass, is that while it peaks early, and the laughs are more in the first half of the film. The second half are mostly due to the fact that we spend increasingly more time with the wives, as they get up to no good at some beach resort.The moral of the story – the idea that a hall pass gives the men freedom without consequences, but the women are not obliged to stay true becomes rather heavy-handed and starts to work against the flow of the comedy but on the irony instead. As a Glitterati member, I get invites to the latest events,launches, activities and food tasting session.

Last Tuesday, I was one of the fortunate few bloggers who got the opportunity to taste one of the best Thai buffet spread ever.

It was at Spice Brasserie,Parkroyal Hotel,Kitchener Road. There was a wide spread of food and looking at all the food made me hungry! I was overwhelmed by all the choices and could not really decide on what to eat. There were Japanese sushi,Teochew porridge and of course Thai food(the tom yum soup was extremely spicy but was simply delicious!)

I enjoyed making my own Thai dessert and there was no limit to how much ice I could put or even the ingredients!

It offers all day dining in Singapore with more than just local and international delights. I am sure the Teochew Porridge buffet is popular with locals just as it was for me as it is a local favourite.

The interior is spacious and gives a cosy feel. It gives off an inviting presence for friends(like us bloggers) to gather over food and there is sufficient light coming through the windows as it allows couples to get cosy and comfortable with their booth seats by the windows. There are also two private dining rooms, perfect for hosting more intimate gatherings and wedding solemnisation events.

My Hair Problem...

You wouldn't believe that as I was watching television last night, I started scratching the back of my head and realized tiny flakes of dandruff falling off. It was so itchy that I reached for my hairbrush and was trying to soothe my itchness to no avail. So I decided to head into the bathroom and take a shower and gave my hair a thorough scrub. I loaded up lots of shampoo in the hope of getting rid of the itch. My mum was shocked at the amount I poured on my scalp. It was about half the bottle. She suggested I seeked treatment but I was embarrassed. I can only detail it on my blog. Can Yun Nam Haircare help? Gosh,I think the itch is coming again! F&N Sparkling Drinks presents Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 2

Vibrant, bold and colourful are 3 words that describe the 5 hours I spent watching the preliminaries of Singapoe Dance Delight Vol. 2 by F&N Sparkling Drinks.

I am a big fan of F&N Sparkling Drinks as they come in flavours like Outrageous Orange, Smashing Strawberry, Cool Ice Cream Soda, Groovy Grape, Flashy Fruitade, Cheeky Cherryade, Zesty Zappel and the latest addition to the range - 'F&N' Blazt. If only they came in such huge sizes like those I saw @Scape!

There were 1000+ youths gathered on 26th February 2011,Saturday,to catch 40 groups up from last year's 28 groups. The competition last year set the bar really high for this year's competition
Having been there and then myself, I would say there was certainly outrageous outfits, cool choreography and groovy dance routines. I felt like dancing to the music as the atmosphere @ Scape was simply contagious!
I truly felt like a reporter/journalist for the day as I experience horrible scares like almost tripping and falling flat on my face(that would be totally unglamourous) who knows, my picture might make headline of the day like "Blogger fell flat on face and had to be sent to hospital while dancers continue the competition."

I salute and have the utmost respect for all reporters and journalists alike. Imagine they have to be at the scene whether rain or shine and jostle with the crowd and position themselves at different angles to capture the best photographs of the event.

The rain almost marred the event as crew for the event patiently used cloth to wipe the stage and the cleaning motley crew was also called in to wipe the floor of the event venue. However, the spirits of the competitiors and 1000+ youths was very much effervescent as they cheered and screamed as they downed lots of F&N Sparkling Drinks that were available readily and F&N gave out wet wipes in cute mini keychain holders that you could attach to your bag. How thoughtful! These were the two most important items that a dancer needs-wet towels to wipe their sweat and drinks to hydrate after countless practices. I swear the dancersmade the routines look so easy that I almost contemplated signing up for O' School street dance classes right there and then!
The judges for that very fateful evening was Kenny Low,Founder, O' School, Ryan Tan, Creative Director, O' School and Hu Pei Zhen aka An An from Da' Street Soul (Funkamania 2006 Champions)

Usually, I use BB creams from Korea so it was a refreshing change to a BB cream from Japan.

If the movie title is anything to go by,well then,I am Number 14.
Why? It's simply because my birthday's on 14 February and I am turning....well,let's not go into all that.

So why should I win a pair of tickets to the preview screening of "I am Number Four?"
It is my birthday! And what better way to spend it and Valentine's Day at the hottest cinema in town(Orchard Cineleisure) and with my Valentine on my birthday which also happens to be the loveliest day of the month of February(Valentine's Day).

Okay,besides this reason, the movie "I am Number Four" is indeed a compelling movie to watch!
It's about John, a normal teenager,just like you and I,who goes to school everyday except that he has superhuman powers and three have being killed and John is Number Four. And he also falls in love...ahh...sweet..as for the ending of the movie,you have to watch it yourself.

EAT, SHOP and PLAY at Hong Kah Point this Chinese New Year 2011

This is what I found out:A charming neighbourhood centre in Jurong West, Hong Kah Point consists of more than a 100 retail shops selling a wide variety of products from trendy fashion wear to electronic goods at delightful heartland prices. Set in a laid back and leisurely atmosphere, this is a wonderful place for those who would like to avoid the crowd and shop at their own leisurely pace.

Besides being popular among local residents, Hong Kah Point, which is famous for fruits, also attracts many visitors from all over Singapore every year. Come during June, when the tropical fruits season starts, and indulge your self in the wide variety of mouth-watering durians, mangosteens and sumptuous fruits here.

Besides the “Fruit Paradise” reputation, this place has also been lovingly named the “Chinatown of the West”. This is due to the bustling Chinese New Year Fair that Hong Kah Point holds annually. One of the largest New Year market in the west, residents look forward to this fair every year where they can soak in the lively festive mood and shop from a huge and wonderful range of New Year products and goodies available for sale.

This was what I experienced:I was one of the fortunate 8 bloggers to be given an opportunity to shop,eat and play at Hong Kah Point.

There were plenty to see and do at Hong Kah Point. I was wondering why I did not discover this "Little Chinatown in the West" sooner.

It was certainly a place whereby I could get all my Chinese New Year shopping done.

There was much to see and do. I could not wait to get started. First stop was to fill

my growling tummy and replenish my energy so that I could get started on my task to look for new year goodies to stock up.

Stallholders at Hong Kah Point were extremely friendly and was willing to make small talk and gave very informative tips on Hong Kah Point.

My partner in crime,Gin Wong, was equally excited. Although we only had a pair of hands, it was full of shopping for the day. We each bought not 1 but 2 pair of shoes for Chinese New Year as it was such a good bargain.

Chinese New Year couplets was definitely a much buy and they were going so cheap that I swear I could chart a whole box of them home.

I can boldly say that if you wish to get away from the crowds at Chinatown, come on down to Hong Kah Point to eat,shop and play! You will not know what you are missing. Moreover,if you are a karaoke fanatic,come down in the evenings with your family and sing your hearts away to Chinese New Year tunes.

Blackberry Bold Trial

I was fortunate enough to be selected by Ripplevox as one of the Blackberry Bold trial users. I enjoyed the whole process thoroughly. From the first day that I was given the handset at The Screening Room at Ann Siang Road, I immediately downloaded applications like Blackberry messenger, Facebook and not forgetting Twitter.
The Blackberry Bold trial came with an exclusive Starhub Premium data plan which meant that I had internet access whenever I go. Having Starhub’s premium data plan, I was able to access my email conveniently and whenever I needed to find a location, I could immediately search for it. Best of all, I was able to use social media like Facebook and Twitter to update my status wherever I go. With the Blackberry, I could take a photograph and upload without hassle. Although I have to admit that sometimes the loading of the webpages took some time, I had a tremendous time surfing on the go. I am truly enjoying the different functions of the Blackberry Bold. Now I am thinking I cannot do without a Blackberry Bold. The data plan simply makes having the handset sweeter.

I like the new Toy Story 3 character,Ken. I especially loved the scene whereby he saw Barbie and introduced himself. It reminded me of the day where I met my first love and set my eyes on himself. It was exactly the same feeling where everything around spins around and you only see the one and only person in front of you. You become totally oblivious to everything else.

NATIONAL FAMILY CELEBRATIONS PLEDGE

My parents have pledged to take a family photo every year in order to keep track of memories of each year.
They have also pledged to bring me on a family trip every day be it near or far as long the family that travels together stays together.

All of us in the family will make it a point to say something positive to each other every day before each of us leaves the house for work.

Today's Wednesday and it's mid week...Usually, I would head home straight after work but today's special because it's Get Your Sexy Back Night!
I was at Velvet Underground and there were so many artistes supporting the cause!
The event was hosted by Jamie Teo and Henry Golding. I would love to get hold of the Get Your Sexy Back tee because it is printed by Ministry of Press! I shall try online to get an autographed tee by Lin Junjie. So glad to see him back on the scene...after being out of sight due to health problems. He delivered a good performance and the crowd went crazy!
Da Feng Chui brought the house down with their different pulsating songs!
Chen Diya and Carrie Yeo of Project Superstar Fame had a duet of a Taylor Swift song.
You know which is my favourite act of the evening??It has to be Jillian Marie-Thomas because she sang a wonderful self-composed song "Get YOUR SEXY back!"
I even signed up for the Get Your Sexy Back Friends Card! Or ya, I also went home with a fantastic goodie bag filled with the latest issue of my favourite magazine,CLEO!Not forgetting CANMAKE mascara and lots of vouchers and discount coupons, what more can a blogger like me ask for? My favourite cooking experience

My most memorable cooking experience has to be the time when I waited till my parents went out and I sneaked into the kitchen to bake cupcakes. As I was barred from the kitchen ever since I burned my mother's pot, I worked in trepidation each time I stepped into the kitchen. Once, my father came back home because he forgot his pair of glasses. I raced up the stairs and jumped into bed.
There was this occasion whereby I waited for the whole family to sleep before I sneaked down into the kitchen to bake cupcakes for my parents' anniversary right up to the wee hours in the morning. When my parents got up in the morning, they saw me in my pyjamas,presenting them the tray of cupcakes I made. While everyone savoured the delicious cupcakes, I was in bed fast asleep,exhausted by all the mixing of the flour and kneading into dough and making sure all the ingredients were in the right amount. But I never did regret the experience because I am sure everyone enjoyed every bit of the cupcake I made!

Why do I want to watch The Proposal? I somehow feel a connection with the female lead in the movie. In what way am I similar? It's because I am about to lose my job and the next best thing would probably to propose to someone or find a man to marry because my company likes married people as they figured married people are mature, stable and able to take on more responsibility.The next promotion may be in line and I probably get some good ideas from the movie.

Sundays with Pa and Ma

I am an only child.Since young,I have always been in the care of my grandparents when my parents go to work. Now that I am a working adult, everyone in the family goes to work including myself. We seldom see or talk to each other during weekdays. It is difficult to gather the family for dinner together as our schedules always clash. Despite all this, we made a promise to keep our Sundays free for each other. Our favourite family routine is to get up early in the morning on Sunday to have breakfast together and talk about how our week has been and update each other about our lives. Following that, we will take a taxi to go to church together,after which, we will head to our nearby favourite restaurant in Little India for lunch. Sundays has become my favourite day of the week and I look forward to it every time.

Hmm,thinking back,I always enjoyed the thrill of winning. My interest definitely has to be in taking part in contests. The joy I experience of getting a call informing me that I won is inexplainable. It can be described as your heart skipping for joy. Even though the prize is a pair of tickets to a show. To some, it's just a pair of tickets but to me,it's a pair of tickets I can share with a fellow friend.
I always enjoyed watching movies and not forgetting meeting people form all walks of life. When a community of people,for instance, bloggers get together and do networking. That is when word of mouth gets passed around and voila! there you have it, a blogging community that can tap on one another and know one another. Race,language and religion no longer matter as long there's something that unites everyone-the love for blogging.

Wow,I realized it's being a long time since I last blogged. You might ask why I decided to return to blogging. Well,I needed a place to air my thoughts and somewhere to call my own. This is my space, a place where I can be myself.
I will definitely continue blogging. As long as there are readers out there, there will be posts frequently.
Just want to share my day today. It was a great start of the day,being out there in the sun,rehearsing for my "important" role as a participant of the largest forming flag on National Day. Doing my part for the nation on its 42nd birthday!
Today also happens to be my 4th salsa lesson, enjoying every bit of it.
Next week will be the last lesson of the beginner module. Wow,good things do really have to come an end. Hmm,wonder whether I should continue?? The motivation of seeing the cute instructor strut his stuff should keep me going.

Today, I make a promise to myself-To give up completely on Matasepet. She is just not worth my attention. In life, there are many other things that are worthy of my careful scrutiny but not Matasepet. Can it be possible to give her up?
Yes,by the power of the mind. To have memories once with her is enough.
I must have self-control. There are other many people out there worthy of my love, not just Matasepet. True, I was once infatuated with her. Everything was hazy but now it's crystal-clear.
Matasepet is out of my mind and should be part of my memory. No longer will I have the bondage of wishing and waiting to have the "lunch" with her. I must make it my commitment.
No doubt Matasepet is a great lecturer. To have our paths crossed in life is one of the happiest and impactful thing that has happened to me.
Initially, I thought it was tough giving her up-to stop thinking of her and doing "crazy" OTT things for her. But I sobered up. It's not too late yet. After crying out all those frustrations, I can better accept the outcome. Change is inevitable. All things must come to an end for a new beginning to start.
Thank you Matasepet for the joy you brought into my life, letting me know that I have the potential to make my dreams come true by believing in myself and having the confidence to pursue it. Thought of the Day

I have come to realise that life is what you make out of it Happiness can only be found if you yourself change your perception on how you view things.I do not expect people to like me and I do not care even if they do not like me because at the end of the day, I am out to please God and not men. We cannot serve two masters. I choose my destiny and I leave my destiny in the hands of my Almighty Father. What has happened in the past cannot be changed or undone but what I know is that I can choose my future. How I want my script of my life to be played out.
I used to wish that I could erase my wrongdoings or awful things that happened in my life like a videotape but now, I am refreshed by the Holy Spirit. The old has gone and the new has come.
I live neither for money or people but for the One above-my Heavenly Father.
Everything that I have now is being blessed by Him. How could I have been so blind to the fact?
I am so glad that I have awaken to the truth. No longer am I a sinner but by His grace, I have been saved.
No longer will I languish in misery for I have found joy in the Lord.

Tolerance or humility?

Yesterday afternoon, I met up with my project mates, X,P and L.
As usual, X gave me the cold shoulder. I found there was no reason to. Perhaps she was just finding an axe to grind. I happened to be an unfortunate "victim'. L is playing the usual role-the authoriative mistress. And P is nonchalant. I was supposed to do a task delegated by X with P. As usual, X had the false impression that P did her job and was up to task. Behind all this. I was the sacrificial "lamb" or rather scapegoat. X would rather believe that it was I who did nothing and P was the conscientious one. Well, what can I say? When someone looks at you with tinted glasses, things will go out of proportion. I can only do to my best of my ability. Ultimately, I am out to please God and not man.
I always feel uncomfortable in the company of the three of them. It's an unexplainable feeling.
Somehow or rather, I simply cannot fit in.
With them,time seems to pass so awfully slow. In 2 months, all these will soon be over.
However, it feels like eternity.Until the day,I shall persevere till the end. It's the race I am in and I am competing with nobody else but myself. Only with God's help will I make it through.

My star,Matasepet

I have an eye for all things beautiful. And I chanced upon a star one day and I never looked back since.
As I recalled the days back when Matasepet stepped into class, I can't help but smile to myself.
I never knew that a person could have such a huge influence in my life but Matasepet was like a shooting star,placed into my "universe" by God.
She created a world where dreams were part of my heart. I found my motivation for being a teacher and constantly seeked ways to improve. It brought my confidence into teaching. Initially I wondered why was I in this course and then I met Matasepet. It brought a change in me, a positive one. I started to believe in myself and knew that I could do things if I put my mind to it.
Many times, we are inhibited by what people would think of us. I started to take initiative and control my destiny. Things were not going to wait for you, you have to grasp the opportunity and make the best out of it.
Matasepet taught my class Art and Creativity. In my eyes, she was this classy lady who carried herself with poise. She made me relook at my life and make the appropriate changes to it. I enjoyed her lessons tremendously. She brought life to lessons and I yearned for much more. Although it was four hours of lesson, I felt it was short. It made me long for much more.
When it was the end of our second year field practicum taught by Matasepet, I felt a sense of loss. Was I ever going to see her again? I am gonna miss her lessons very much.
So I decided to give her a card to tell her how much I appreciate her lessons and of course, her!
That was the beginning of a wonderful friendship that I didn't expect.
I was feeling blue one day when I thought of her-my star. She was my inspiration. She gave me the strength to carry on and be positive. I messaged her to tell her that I hoped she was well and that I kept her in prayer. God certainly has a hand in everything that I experienced and I am thankful for it.
Matasepet invited me out for lunch.You never know how elated I was. Even though I was nervous for fear that I do something silly, I decided to pluck up my courage. I knew that there would never be a chance like this so I am going to grasp it with all my might.Heehee...
The lunch that lasted an hour was certainly memorable. Never would I forget it-18th June 2004
We had lunch at Swensens and chatted like long time friends. I felt so blessed by God.I knew it was not by my will but God's will.
It was at the lunch that I came up with the idea of a salsa item for graduation. Back then, I was idealistic but deep in my heart, I knew that dreams can be turned into reality if we really work hard to make it come true.Words has to be translated into actions. I was determined to make it come true.
Eventually, there was a salsa workshop and to me, it was a success although from 33 people,it became 12. I felt that it was worthwhile because my friends truly enjoyed the workshop and we had great fun. The 2 days of intensive 8 hour lessons of salsa made me long for more. I discovered that I enjoyed salsa. True, in the beginning, it was because I like Matasepet so I choose to get to know more about it.
However,as I delve deeper to broaden my knowledge on salsa, I became genuinely interested. I was fanatical about dancing. I wanted so much to continue dancing. It was so much fun.
Perhaps time was not on my side because it was the beginning of my last semester of my final year in poly, project deadlines loom ahead and the prospect of a salsa item at graduation looked bleak.
I suppose memories,especially lovely ones like the salsa workshop will be deeply etched in my memory bank for life. At least, I can say I did something-organised a salsa workshop for my friends and let them discover the joy of dancing which I did myself.
I would watch Matasepet dance and be amazed. I was spellbound as to how the dance moves could fascinate me. The first time I saw Matasepet dance was when they were raising funds for SARS in May 2003 at Millenia Walk. Brillant moves I thought...I gasped in awe as I saw Matasepet being twirled in the air.
Gradually, I went to the dance studio to look out for her and see her dance. That's it-I wanted so much to learn the dance. By then,my interest in her and in salsa was blurred.I could not distinguish what exactly I was feeling.
When I experienced the dance for myself, I realized how much I enjoyed it. The joy was short-lived. I long to dance again with a partner.
When I returned to school, I was shocked to know that Matasepet was my lecturer. I thought she never taught Year 3 students?Of course,my heart leap with joy. What was the best gift for new year you might ask?Of course it is having lessons with my star,Matasepet!
Guess what?She is my mentor too!What can be better than that?
At her first lesson, she asked me to carry stuff for her.I was more than happy to do it.It reminded of the time where I raised my hands frantically to offer to help her carry things. Either she sensed it or knew it, she gave me her water bottle to carry. As I reflect back, I cannot help but giggle. I also remembered that I helped her carry a trolley of things with my friend, we each got a toy in appreciation. I treasured it very much that it now sits proudly at my study desk. Matasepet made my day when she asked whether she could have my "Rainbow Bowl". Hey,that was a huge boost to my ego. The person whom I hold in high esteem was asking me for my personalised work. I was glad to oblige and it made my heart smile.
I never touch a paintbrush ever since I took Art for 'O' levels.Yet,I picked up a paintbrush to paint a portrait of Matasepet. I wrote a poem for her even though I was not sure it would be good but I knew it came from my heart. That is what matters most. It was pure and sincere.
When Matasepet asked me to help her sis-in-law during the holidays, I wanted so much to put aside going to Bangkok for Poly Forum. However, I knew that I had a responsibility and I had to fulfill it. I went to Bangkok with her in mind. I bought something for her.It was a pleasure to give her and she gave me a hug. The same hug that I gave her when I thought I would never see her again. The thought of a hug reminds me of the bear-one that looked like me,given by Matasepet. I am really grateful to God for these experiences.
In 2 months' time, it will be the end of the semester.I know I am really gonna miss Matasepet and this time, it's for real. However,I look not to the future but hold fond memories of the past with Matasepet. Now in the present,I shall work hard and focus on my studies with Matasepet as my source of motivation.
I actually prepared a letter,a bottle of lucky stars and a pen for Matasepet. The pen is for her birthday and the bottle of lucky stars is a farewell gift for her.In the letter, I wrote my birthday prayer for her and thoughts of what I feel as the end of the semester approached.
I do not know how to give it to her though.I no longer have the courage to approach Matasepet.
Why is it that so?
Whatever it is,all I know that Matasepet is my star.She's constantly shining brightly as a role model for me to emulate. My salsa teacher,my favourite lecturer,my mentor,friend and my star-Matasepet. :)

Feeling vexed about life.....

Recently, I decided to retreat into my shell. The home which I was so comfortable in sometime back. I never realize how difficult it was when I tried it on. But I felt an unexplainable sense of comfort.
Several things happened in the last few months made me ponder about life deeply. I have never been so reflective and now I look at things with tinted glasses. I wondered what caused me to be this way.
Where was my soul?Had I lost it when I entered poly?Was it the people around me?Or was it myself?I could not find an answer.
People told me I pondered too much....Maybe...But I figured I am learning new things each day.
Recently, I made a decision to end a friendship with a friend thought it would do me good.
Was I in the right frame of mind?I don't know.
I visited a counselor in the hope of answering my questions. It was not easy because deep inside me, I refused to let go.
I shared with her that I adored a teacher of mine very much. I felt it was way too much....I felt a pressure to be "normal"-I simply could not fit in with my clique in school.
I looked back and realized I revealed too much of myself. When you made a mistake and acknowledge it and learn from it, it's not too late.
Somehow or rather, I felt that I should know it earlier. Foolish me...To think that everyone out there was sincere and willing to listen. Some secrets are meant to be for you and yourself only.
I thus decided that it was best to keep to myself but I felt "suffocated"-it was not myself anymore. What had I become?
Years back when I was in secondary school,I was contented to be left alone but now I longed to be around people realized I am always trying to figure out my thoughts but I would never understand myself I too interpersonal?
It may be a pro or a con. Life is what you make out of it how you see things perception and your attitude.
If we choose to listen to what people say, we will forever be living in agony. Yet sometimes, we have to take what people say with a pinch of salt.
At school now,I decided to adopt a relaxed attitude towards work and friends. I was way too open with my feelings previously. Overly expressive towards my teacher,Matasepet.
So I suppose I decided that enough was enough if I hold my tongue and think before I say,it would make things better.
However,I soon realized internally,I didn't feel good tried cutting off my feelings of being in the company of my friends.After all,they regarded me as a kid.Like a mother hen looking out for her chick.What can I do?
Should I even try?I tried the other time but there was nobody to support me.I felt 3 of them were against me.Did I try?Yes but it was a failed attempt.
I was full of drive and enthusiasm and Matasepet made me rethink about my career choice as a teacher. She was my star and source of motivation. It is precisely because of her I want to accomplish things.I thank God for her.But at times, I feel very guilty....because God should be my No. 1 in my life,not her.Maybe I am really reading too much in things.
I should be grateful that God made me differently.I would analyse things in detail in my head and most of all, I enjoy people or should I say beautiful people.
Matasepet is one of them. She enjoys dancing. When I look at her dance,it makes me wanna dance too. To me, she's simply amazing.I often look forward to her classes with joy. Never before have I truly enjoyed learning. I felt a thirst for knowledge.
In her recent class,she did the 7 habits of highly effective people. I decided to pick up reading again. The last time I held a book was probably years ago.
Things looked positive each time I constantly keep her in my mind. She was always so positive and some of it rubbed off on me too.
There was a time I felt that I was so blessed because God has been constantly looking out for me and I was truly thankful that He placed Matasepet in my life.However,things started going awry and I went to extremely happy to extremely depressed.
I found no purpose in life. What was I living everyday for? Doing the same old stuff,churning out assignments.Suddenly,I lost my zest for life. My mind was a total blank. I needed to get back on my feet. Things were not looking very rosy.
Right now,I should be concentrating on my studies. I knew that but my heart was telling my mind a different thing.
I had difficulty thinking right...as much as I tried to....I failed...time and again.Where was my soul?? I let my heart rule my head.I needed so much support from my friends.I could not get it....I could not do it alone.
Now when I am in the company of my fellow projectmates, I feel uneasy and I cannot wait to get out of the place.I feel so odd,stucking out like a sore thumb around them.Why has it become like this? Does all final year students feel this way?When they reaching the end of the race of the diploma,do they turn into self-reflective individuals and ponder over issues regarding life?
Sometimes I wish that life would be simple and fuss-free but that would take all the joy out of life.I learnt that in this world, there are people with motives out there-it can be good or bad. You yourself have to be discerning and learn to adapt to the circumstances. We all make mistakes in life. I have made mistakes but most importantly,I learn from it and bounce back with a renewed mind.The old me has gone and a new creation is born.
2 months will be gone in a flash soon. All this will soon pass and I shall anticipate the day where I step into a new phase of my life.
For now, it's best to take things as it comes and live each day as it is. No doubt I look forward to the day of completion of my final year project. However, it is a bittersweet feeling because I will Matasepet or rather her lessons. I will no longer be a student but I will be a working adult-a teacher to be precise. Will I be a good teacher like Matasepet? I long so much to be a good teacher so that children will benefit and learn from my teaching. But now,I lack self-confidence...can I teach??
I caught the movie "Shall We Dance" today with my mum. It reminded me of Matasepet and the salsa workshop I organised. It was truly a memorable experience. God has certainly been good to me.What more could I ask for??I had the opportunity to go on a trip to Bangkok paid by the poly for Poly Forum. My parents told me that they believed in me and that I could take care of myself which is the reason why they trusted me and knew that I would always be sensible and mature in the way I handle stuff.
One thought that constantly haunted me was that being an only child,did it made me a loner?
I found that I enjoyed doing things alone....like going to the movies because I never liked sharing the popcorn. When I cycled alone, I felt like a free spirit. Yet at times, I liked the company of people but recently, I am put off by the presence of people. I felt that I could not trust anyone.
What happened?? Why did I become like this?
Was it the people around me?Perhaps too much negative energy.At first, I thought I could pull it off but the "mask" soon became too heavy for me to wear. I had to take it off and I bursted into tears. Maybe the things that happened to me was too much for me to bear.
As I looked back, when I left the present group to join another group, I made a mistake and I could not forgive myself for making a stupid mistake. When I left, I told them I would bear the responsibility of my choice. Deep within, I knew that I wanted so much to be out of the group.Why?It was because I did not really fit in..I was always the odd one out and the 3 of them would be quick to point it out. Did it really matter that I was not in colour-coordinated clothes with them?
I enjoyed making friends. I admit it was easy for me to open up to a stranger. My clique of 3 friends didn't take it well. They would say "Go ahead and mingle with your other friends."
Was it my choice or their choice?Couldn't I have my sense of freedom?
Perhaps they regarded me as a child....always...now and forever...
Why?I suppose it was my mistake again. I was too playful.I never expected the consequences...I only wanted to be real and sincere and be myself. I was expressive with my affections to Matasepet. I felt a desire to be a better person because of Matasepet. Was it wrong?
I saw positive results and a change in me.
I felt nobody understood me. I realized that some things has to be secret. Which is why I decided to have a blog-it was the only place where I could declare my feelings for Matasepet without the fear of being judged or ostracised. I never felt it was a wrong thing to like Matasepet until I shared it with my 3 friends-people whom I thought I could trust.I discovered that 1 of them actually like Matasepet too.It's just that I choose to show it and she doesn't but now the cat is out of the bag cos she asked me one day to "cross my heart and hope to die" that I wasn't out with Matasepet. What have I done to deserve this?I didn't agree....anyway,what business is it of hers whether I was out with Matasepet or not. I hated the behaviour of hers. Instantly, I knew it was jealousy. I should realized it long ago....she was always asking after Matasepet. The gullible me took the bait or rather I was clouded with my fond admiration for Matasepet that I didn't notice anything wrong with her asking. I was relishing the attention.Suddenly, I found that someone was willing to listen to me intently about Matasepet unlike the many others. I should have knew it. There was something fishy-she liked Matasepet.
Okay,that's fine with me but she doesn't have to pick on me and gang up with the other two gals to condemn me. I feel like a criminal interrogated by them each time I am with them. Where is my breathing space. I have to blame myself...for my playful behaviour before...now, I don't get the respect I deserve as an individual.
God,please help me out.I do not know how to carry on each day or how I should behave. I thought that staying at home will do me good but I discovered that it could only be a short-term solution because at the end of the day, I still had to go out. I couldn't survive a day alone at home. My mind would run wild.I would think of Matasepet.
I needed to do things that would take my mind off. I really wish to get my vibe back for schoolwork. Where has all the enthusiasm and energy in me gone?With the wind?
Right now, I needed to work on my self-esteem. I will get back on my feet...yes with the help of God. Like Matasepet would say "Think positive!" Yup,that's what I will do.
I will make it through the 2 months and brave it without fear. Just do it and God will do the rest! :)
