"Maxilla" by Lianne Ong

Lianne Ong, the author, is a church friend of mine.

Ever since I knew her, she has been writing and I knew someday she would write a book and indeed she has....

And she has written a children's book with the lead character being her son, Reuben.

When they were in the U.S. , Reuben chanced upon a caterpillar and decided to bring it home to keep.

His mother, Lianne, has written the book to record the event.

In the book which I recommend for children and adults, there are a few themes being explored

1) For children to deal with the issue of disappointment and to let go.

2) For parents to journey along with their children and support them in their choices they made.

3) Respecting nature is important and we must teach children that.

4)The amazing transition of a caterpillar to a butterfly and their life cycle

Review of ICE CUBE

On 23 January 2014, my friends and I were cordially invited to a food tasting session at  ICE CUBE which

is at  11 Kensington Park Road, Singapore 557263.

They have been in the Serangoon Garden neighbourhood for 8 years.

It was a lovely and cozy setting with comfortable seats and awesome music playing in the background. I like the fact that it was a family-friendly place catered to the needs of children (me being the early childhood educator was attracted naturally to the bright colours!)

My friends and I were bowled over by the warm and friendly service by the staff who attended to us.

Here are some of the dishes that I would recommend:

Mozzarella Cheese Stix

Aglio Olio Pasta

Waffle with ice-cream of your choice (24 flavours to choose from-you will be spoilt for choice!)

Portobello Mushroom Soup

Delivery Man

On 3rd January 2014, I watched the movie, Delivery Man, at Cathay Handy Road.

The movie was about a man who learnt that he had 533 children because of his sperm donation years ago and he had a girlfriend who was coincidentally pregnant, so that makes him the father of 534 children.

Vince Vaugh plays the main lead and as always, he provides great comic relief. Overall, I felt the movie was an inspirational one.

It tells us that in life, we must pick ourselves up and focus on the goals that we have and sometimes, life experiences forces us to grow up and be a responsible adult.

I would recommend this movie for great comedy and a night out with friends after dinner.

I would rate it 3 out of 5 stars for a feel-good movie as it has an awesome happy ending. (be sure to catch it!)
